American Honda Motors approached Cantara in early 2012 to be the technology integrator for a project that was going to surpass all expectations of what sustainable living meant to the world. Yesterday, the home opened for media and people in the local Davis, CA community to tour.
Sustainable and high-tech, Honda Smart Home US is a showcase for environmental innovation, demonstrating Honda’s vision for zero-carbon living and personal mobility. A vision of a lifestyle of renewable energy for home and transportation, HSH (Honda Smart House) features new technologies to greatly reduce the amount of energy consumed by individual households, including the use of solar power to charge a Honda Fit EV battery electric vehicle.
The challenge for Cantara over the past two years has been creating the custom code that is responsible for monitoring all the systems including experimental circadian rhythm color control lighting in this approximate 1,500 square foot house. We have worked side by side with some of the most forward thinking people in the sustainable living industry including the leaders of the California Lighting Technology Center at UC Davis, Princeton Power and the Davis Energy Group.
